We work on many components that make up a hockey glove. We are explaining the frequently asked questions in this post.
Palm is the surface directly in contact with your stick.
Overlay is applied onto the palm and thumb as they are high abrasion area and are the most likely two spots to wear out first.
Gusset is the surface around the sides of your fingers. This is not included in re-palming costs. Most gusset damage can be repaired vs full replacement.
Binding is the protective edge around the palm, gusset and cuff. They are made of durable material for longevity of the glove. They also protect the palm installation from abrasion. If this is damaged we can not reinstall it. We will replace it with as close to original colour as possible. It is also not included in the price of a re-palm.
Thumb Lock - prevents the thumb from hyper-extending away from the palm. Some call it a loop or how they hang it on the peg in shops. All of our re-palming include the Thumb Lock.
